South Dakota senior citizens and citizens with disabilities have until July 1 to apply for sales or property tax refunds under South Dakota’s Tax Refund Program. Under the program, eligible individuals may receive a portion of the sales or property taxes they paid from the previous year. Read on to see if you are eligible.

On July 1, 2023, South Dakota’s tax rate will decrease from 4.5 percent to 4.2 percent. Governor Kristi Noem and the Department of Revenue are working diligently to account for the three-tenth percent sales tax decrease created by House Bill 1137.
