Directions for County Boards of Equalization

minute read

County Boards of Equalization

At this time, there is no directive from the Department of Revenue to postpone or cancel County Boards of Equalization meetings.

Please use whatever precautions you and your Commission deem necessary to go forward with Boards of Equalization meetings, while checking with your state’s attorney on matters such as:

  • Rigid scheduling to only allow one appellant in the room at one time.
  • Allow phone or video conferencing options for people unable to come in. In particular, SDCL 1-25-1.5 permits the state and political subdivisions to conduct official meetings via teleconference.
  • Wipe down any surfaces that are being handled between each individual.
  • Use gloves and/or face masks, if necessary and if available.

As always, stay safe, healthy, and wash your hands.
