How to get new 2017 Commercial or Trailer Plates After January 1, 2017, renew your registration within your renewal period. After renewing your registration, you will get your new plate. Visit our fees page to see costs for specific plates.
Methods of Renewal

Go Online--log on to http://mysdcars.sd.gov to renew your vehicle registrations. After renewing, your new plate and registration stickers will be mailed to you.

Visit a Self-Service Terminal--Renew your registration at one of our 10 locations. Registration stickers or a permit will print directly at the machine, while plates will be delivered by mail.

Visit your local County Treasurer's Office--Please bring your registration renewal notice if applicable.

How to get new 2017 Dealer Plates

 

South Dakota licensed dealers are eligible to receive the new plates. The new dealer plates will be numbered differently to reflect the dealer's license number.

Dealers must complete their annual dealer license renewal after January 1, 2017 to receive the new plates.

Methods of Renewal

Go Online--log on to the dealer system. After renewing, your new plates will be mailed to you. Dealers now have the option to pay online when ordering through the dealer system.

Visit your local County Treasurer's Office--Please bring your dealer license if applicable.
