2009 Statistical Reports

PLEASE NOTE:

  • In all cases when you select a month, you will be viewing data compiled from returns filed with the Department during that month. It may cover a variety of taxpayer filing periods, such as monthly, bi-monthly, semi-annually etc. It includes returns filed for the current period and those filed for pervious periods.
  • MUNICIPAL reports are based on the municipal tax reported by all sellers.
  • STATE reports are based on the state tax reported by all sellers. Some of these reports are sorted by zip code area.
  • Any time less than 3 licenses exist in a Standard Industrial Classification group (SIC) the information is combined into an “other” category.
  • No contractors’ excise tax is included.

Municipal Taxable Sales per City by SIC Code

NEW REPORT 01-2009

Taxable sales within the Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) Division, Major Group & Industry for all cities. Separately covers the general municipal tax rate and the municipal gross receipts tax rate.

Municipal Tax Due per City – Comparison

Shows a comparison of municipal tax due reported this month to the same month in the previous year grouped by city. This report matches the amount of sales, use, and municipal gross receipts tax paid to each city per month.

State Taxable Sales for County & City (Division totals for each city)

Shows state taxable sales within the Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) Division for each county broken down by cities located within that county. It does NOT indicate activity subject to the applicable city taxes. A city may exist in more than one county.

State Taxable Sales by County & City (Comparison)

Shows state taxable sales for each county broken down by cities located within that county compared to the previous year. A city may exist in more than one county.

State Taxable Sales by County & City (Percentage)

Shows state taxable sales for each county broken down by cities located within that county and what percentage of the total sales are allocated to each city and county. A city may exist in more than one county.

Shows state taxable sales within the Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) Division, Major Group & Industry.

Tourism Tax Report

Show state tourism taxable sales grouped by industry within each county.

Shows comparison of state taxable sales reported this month to the same month in the previous year grouped by Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) Major Groups and Divisions.

4% State Taxable Sales for All Cities

Shows state taxable sales within the Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) Division, Major Group & Industry for all cities. Sales were grouped with the city by zip code and does NOT indicate activity subject to the applicable city tax.

Retailer's Association Comparison Request Report

Shows a comparison of municipal tax due for selected cities compared to the same period in the pervious year.

Firework Sales

Shows firework sales by county for the calendar year.

Shows state taxable sales within the Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) Division, Major Group & Industry for Aberdeen, Brookings, Huron, Mitchell, Pierre, Rapid City, Sioux Falls, Spearfish, Watertown and Yankton. Sales were grouped with the city by zip code and does NOT indicate activity subject to the applicable city taxes.
